The sun is up, the sky is blue, its beautiful and so are you. Dear Prudence, wont you come out to play?

Fools on parade frolic and fuck about to make her gaze
turn to a scribble on a page by a picture that holds her accent
but you're daft to think she'd care

Embrass moi

My disgust for "new Australia", other than the apparent fascist approach to life the nation seems to be taking, is fueled by its steady "Americanisation". The missiles, the burger bars, the one-dimensional lust for gold-plated designer-stamped success. For me, the future seems an echoing nightmare. most importantly, people have no taste. They have such bad taste in every area. In saying so I have no doubt I sound like a sentimental old nostalgic fool. Oh well.

Oh well, enough said

The latest Arctic Monkeys album, Suck It And See is a true testament to how far the boys have come as musicians. The album is rich with meaningful, sometimes humorous lyrics, tasty guitar licks, and the ever present brilliance of Matt Helders on the drums. Perhaps what I like best about this album, however, is the what Nick O'Malley brings with his bass guitar. This is a very sexy acoustic rendition of "Love Is A Laserquest", a song I have no doubt Turner wrote after his breakup with girlfriend Alexa Chung.

In August 2009 the boys released their third album, Humbug. The lyrics take a turn from observative, writing about what Tuner saw around him, to a much more personal level. The music itself is influenced by psychodelic groups such as The Beatles, Cream and Jimi Hendrix. If you've not heard it I suggest you do so. This inteview on the BBC's culture show features Alex and Matt answering questions on the album. Well worth a watch.

The Age Of The Understatement

2008 saw Alex Turner team up with his buddy Miles Kane to make an album as "The Last Shadow Puppets". The pair wrote some cracker tunes such as Standing Next To Me, My Mistakes Were Made For You and The Age Of The Understatement. Miles and Alex seem to be constantly buzzing of each other, as shown in this short documentary...
Their second album "favorite worst nightmare" was full of great tunes including Teddy Picker, Brianstorm, and this gem, the perfect break up tune. I wish I'd written it...dam.

Don't Believe The Hype

This is the first song I heard by Arctic Monkeys, released when I was sixteen. Blew my mind...obviously.
This week end I am traveling to Brisbane, Australia to see Arctic Monkeys at the River Stage. I have had a long serving obsession with Alex Turner and his merry men, and I am unable to contain my excitement. As a vent for this excitement, I will take you through the journey of my obsession. The show kicks off at six pm, with Miles Kane announced as the supporting act. The ticket cost me a measly $80, which i would gladly pay to see citizen Kane alone, let alone with Arctics coming on after to blow all our bollocks away. Best 80 dollars ever spent.

I'll show you a man with a lot on his mind

Ain't it just like the night to play tricks on you when you're trying to be so quiet?
Oh so please don’t let me go without you
My heart never shows without you
Lately things have been so distant
And I don’t know what I can do to fix it
Why don’t you love me like you used to
Why do I worry about the future?
Is it just that how we manage is not by love, but force of habit
And if only I could be a man
Rip down all your dreams and plans
Smash in all of your pretty things so the only thing you could see was me
For what we’re done should be a crime
We should be locked up so we never see the light
In the darkness we could see how worthless all our lives must be
If two lovers like us can drift apart
There must be something wrong with our hearts
Must be something wrong with all of us to never care til things are lost
Why don’t you love me like you used to
Why do I worry about the future?

Innocence & arrogance entwined...in the filthiest of minds

ATTENTION

It is with much regret that I announce that we live in the age of the ugly people. Most unfortunate for those of us who remain beautiful, today's world is full of of ugly, ugly people. Insipid, ugly men meet boring, ugly women and in turn populate our decrepit world with square eyed ugly children. Ugly children who spend their childhood in front of a projection of some bastard killing another through the command of a hand held joy stick. The very same bland children who grow up to take monotonous, passionless jobs in some bung hole office, wiping the ass of some gloating ugly fool whom they will spend their life referring to as “boss.” finally, inevitably they will meet a ghastly ugly girl, move into an ugly little house in their ugly little town and the god forsaken cycle will surely continue.

How The Light Gets In

The birds they sang
at the break of day
Start again
I heard them say
Don't dwell on what
has passed away
or what is yet to be.
Ah the wars they will
be fought again
The holy dove
She will be caught again
bought and sold
and bought again
the dove is never free.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

R.I.P. Mr. Anderson
